When the docker daemon starts, it makes the ownership of the Unix socket read/writable by the docker group. The Docker installation command is: sudo apt install docker.io. I am trying to run docker commands without using sudo, but they are still not working. The version we will be installing is named docker.io. If you install docker you will not end up with the container version. I have installed docker through the software manager app. To install Docker on Kali you need to remember that there is already a package named docker, therefore Docker has to be installed under a different name.
